County Board Meetings
The County Board meets at 5:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the Month (unless otherwise indicated) in the County Board Room on the third floor of the County Office Building, which is located at 1504 - Third Avenue, Rock Island, Illinois. All meetings are open to the public, but may be closed to the public in the event of discussion of certain items as defined in the Open Meetings Act.
To address the Board
Any citizen or representative of a group wanting to address the Board shall put their request in writing and submit to the Chairperson of the Board at least two working days prior to the regularly scheduled Board meeting; this to exclude discussion of matters which have had a previous public hearing conducted according to law. No person has the right to the floor if outside the railing, but persons wishing to speak on a subject may be invited by the County Board Chairperson to enter upon the Board floor to speak to the Board or by public microphones provided. The County Board Chairman is empowered to set a time limit on any such person.
Committees
The County Board operates on the committee system. Items concerning county government are discussed in depth by standing and special committees which then refer the items to the Board with recommendations for passage or denial. The Committees are appointed by the County Board Chairman. |
